Housing Choice Voucher Specialist

The Lexington Housing Authority is seeking Housing Specialists to join our team! The ideal candidates will have experience in motivational interviewing and service management, as well as proficiency in housing software. Conducts initial assessments of clients' housing needs, works to certify new and existing clients in busy local housing program. Ideal candidates will possess analytical and advanced clerical skills. The ability to work effectively with the public and landlords in determining eligibility for programs is required. Candidates should have a proven record of dealing courteously and tactfully with many kinds of people. Experience in Microsoft Word and Excel is required. A knowledge of, or ability to learn assisted housing programs is preferred. High school diploma required, with bachelor’s degree in business, or related field plus two years interviewing experience in position with a public agency preferred. Salary begins at $35,390.00 with an excellent benefits package, including paid health, dental, vision and life insurance, as well as retirement savings opportunities.  The candidate hired will receive a bonus of $750.00 upon completion of six months’ employment, with an additional $750.00 to be paid after one full year of employment.



Maintenance Service Technician II

Semi-skilled maintenance service worker needed to perform a variety of routine and minor maintenance, repair and construction tasks including but not limited to plumbing, carpentry, electrical repairs and landscaping. Performs daily tasks involving inspection and repair of carpentry, appliances, plumbing and electrical devices, utilizing a wide range of tools.  Requirements include skill in use of common hand tools, ability to follow oral and written communications, and to communicate in writing. Must perform moderately heavy manual work. Will occasionally be required to perform some cleaning and grounds maintenance. The proven ability to maintain working relationships with clients and employees is required. Must possess a valid Kentucky driver license. The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, with experience in building maintenance work. Salary range begins at $38,698.00, with an excellent benefits package, including paid health, vision, dental, life insurances, with retirement savings opportunities.  The candidate hired will receive a bonus of $750.00 upon completion of six months employment, with an additional $750.00 to be paid after one full year of employment.



Maintenance Service Technician I  

Routine custodial and grounds keeping maintenance positions open. Work includes cleaning vacant apartments and offices, moving furniture, and providing general labor. Applicants should have experience in methods and equipment used in custodial cleaning. Mowing, edging, trimming and raking will be required. Should have some experience in general maintenance of mowers, blowers and chain saws. The ability to follow oral and written instructions and perform moderately heavy manual work required. Should be able to show ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees, supervisors and tenants. Must possess a valid KY driver license. Beginning salary is $35,390.00 with an excellent benefits package including paid health, vision, dental and life insurance as well as retirement savings opportunities.   The candidate hired will receive a bonus of $750.00 upon completion of six months employment, with an additional $750.00 to be paid after one full year of employment.
